Areas of Focus
Mr. Stein has substantial expertise in building new alternative asset management businesses, and structuring a wide range of hedge fund, less liquid and other alternative investments including private placements and Investment Company Act of 1940 liquid alternatives. He also has a successful record of raising capital across global institutional, consultant, high net worth and retail segments.
Most recently, Mr. Stein was a Managing Director at JPMorgan Alternative Asset Management, Inc. (JPMAAM), an affiliate of JPMorgan Chase & Co. Mr. Stein was responsible for new client development, relationship management and customization of investment solutions for JPMAAM’s U.S. institutional investors and for developing and launching JPMAAM’s liquid alternative strategy in the U.S. Mr. Stein was also a key contributor to designing JPMAAM’s global strategic positioning and branding.
Prior to this, Mr. Stein relocated to London, England, to establish JPMAAM’s first non-U.S. office to develop and manage its international institutional and consultant business. Mr. Stein’s clients included governmental agencies, central banks, corporate and public pensions, endowments, universities and insurance companies located in the U.K., Continental Europe, Middle East and Asia.
Before working in London, Mr. Stein was employed by Chase Alternative Asset Management, Inc., an affiliate of Chase Manhattan Bank (Chase), where he managed a team responsible for developing and distributing structured products, private equity and hedge funds, to high net worth individuals globally, and to institutions in Japan. He began his career as an analyst in Chase’s Capital Markets and Foreign Exchange division, and also completed Chase’s Corporate Finance and Credit training program.
